That sounds like a great idea. I didn't actually know you guys built the Connect Magazine directory as well. That's cool! The only things I did not like about your web development, design, and SEO directories is that I could not get a response back from anyone when I submitted to them. The directories themselves look great. And it's really smart of you as a company to use them for self-promotion. I think it's terrific what you guys are doing.

"I do not like their web development, seo, or web design directories"

What's not to like? After all, they're free and all the links are dofollow. But I admit, it is rather shameless self-promotion. But hey, it works for us which is what matters.

UtahFirms is overdue for an overhaul. We built it using the same framework as we used to build Connect Magazine's website and directory, which was back in 2002 using old fashioned ASP. Neither site does anything to combat spam submissions, and whereas Connect may actually have somebody go in and manually prune the directory, I only go into UtahFirms about once per year to clear out the junk.

But we are working on the next generation of directories, the first of which is just about ready for launch over at www.laundromatic.com. Once we launch it and refine it a bit we're planning on using the same back-end for 40-50 other niche directories, which will probably include UtahFirms as well as the aforementioned SEO, web development, and web design directories we've got.
