We’ve discussed before the importance of sitemaps and the critical role they play in search engine optimization. It can be difficult to continually update your XML “google friendly” sitemap when you are managing a site that is constantly updating it’s content. A perfect example of this of course is a blog! When you are managing a blog and are blogging often, you don’t want to have to continually add each post to your XML sitemap file. There is a plugin for Wordpress called Google XML Sitemaps which automatically updates your sitemap.xml file for you on the fly!

Here is the basic description of the plugin by creator Arne Brachhold:
“This plugin will create a Google sitemaps compliant XML-Sitemap of your WordPress blog. It supports all of the WordPress generated pages as well as custom ones. Everytime you edit or create a post, your sitemap is updated and all major search engines that support the sitemap protocol, like ASK.com, Google, MSN Search and YAHOO, are notified about the update.”
I highly recommend this plugin for you Wordpress bloggers along with the All In One SEO Pack plugin to give you all the SEO benefits you need. From there you basically just need to concentrate on writing good, quality content that is new in concept and beneficial to your readers and potential readers.

1[...] Seriously, I know this may sound complicated but just follow the instructions! It’s really that easy. And bam you got yourself a Google Friendly XML sitemap that you can just simply upload directly to your document root. I really like this tool and I use it for every website I develop or optimize. Except of course the Worpdress blogs where I just use the Google XML Sitemap plugin. [...]
